Three years ago Elisabeth Prial and Barb Knight, veterans of the children's book industry, decided that the time was right to offer a list of imaginative and entertaining books for children. And so, tiger tales was born. The resulting list of children's books offers an exciting assortment of high quality kids books built upon a strong editorial and graphic foundation.
The guiding principle of the company is to create books that address the everyday experiences children know. Combining topics such as losing a first tooth, playing with friends, exploring their neighborhoods, welcoming a new sibling into the family and learning about others, are just a few of the storylines. Each is enlivened by bright, colorful and child-friendly illustrations. In pursuit of their goal, tiger tales has garnered the positive attention and accolades of many reviewers.
"As a small and independent press, it was important to carve out our niche," says Elisabeth. "So we decided to focus on books that would appeal to younger children, ages 6 months to 8 years old." For tiger tales, this meant offering the variety of formats that works best for this age group - hardcover picture books, paperbacks and board books. Included in tiger tales' list is also a selection of novelty formats including pop-up books, lift-the-flap books and cloth books. In this age of children being saturated by all types of media, tiger tales books engage even the savviest kids of the exploding multi-media generation.
"We feel we're riding the wave of the future," concur Elisabeth and Barb. With the consolidation of the large publishers there is plenty of room for new and innovative ideas. As a fresh and creative new small press, tiger tales is certainly poised to contribute to the future of children's book publishing. This is a wonderful addition to any children's library collection.
